Volunteering

What volunteers do?

Here’s your opportunity to volunteer at the Round Table 2026 Conference and help make the event a success.

Volunteers help the conference run smoothly. Tasks may include:

  • Directing people to conference sessions, food and amenities
  • Assisting delegates during some sessions
  • Providing basic support to presenters and session chairs
  • Welcoming and mingling with delegates, exhibitors and educators during breaks

If you’re interested in volunteering, please complete the Volunteer Expression of Interest form below. You can also use the form to tell us your availability and ask any questions.

Volunteer and Staff Training Session

A training session for conference volunteers and venue staff will be held on Monday 18 May at 1.00pm at the Pullman Adelaide. The session will run for approximately two hours.

The session will include an overview of human guide and orientation techniques, such as:

  • How to orient a person to their room and surroundings, including air conditioning controls, steps into the shower, toilet location and mini bar.
  • Rules and courtesies around dog guides.
  • How to indicate a chair, describe the layout of food on a plate, and point out where a glass and other table items are placed.
  • This will be followed by a practical blind fold component.

All volunteers are strongly encouraged to attend this training session.

What you’ll gain

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Receive morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea on the days you volunteer.
  • Be able to attend some conference sessions of your choice, if space allows.
  • Have opportunities to talk with educators, presenters and exhibitors.
  • Gain valuable work experience and develop new skills.
  • Receive written recognition of your contribution, which can be added to your resume.

Volunteering is also a meaningful way to “give back”, build confidence, grow friendships and feel more connected to the blindness and low vision community.
